The Chail Palace- Chail, Himachal Pradesh

The Palace- Chail, Himachal Pradesh

When planning your honeymoon trip to Shimla, include The Palace- Chail in your
Shimla Honeymoon tour Package Itinerary. Now a heritage hotel, Chail Palace happened to be the royal mansion of Maharaja of Patiala, Maharaja Bhupender Singh. He is the person who is often credited with the title of being the founder of Chail after he was banished from Shimla by the British government.

Nestling in the shelter of the virgin forests which covers many untoddled hills, Chail is a tiny Resort in the shiwalik region of Himachal Pradesh.Chail has an interesting history , originally it was part of the Keonthal estates, then it came under the sway of the Gorkha warrior Amar Singh and finally became a royal resort and summer seat of the Maharaja of Patiala. It is surrounded by Gignatic deodar and chir Pine forests.

The road from Chail to Kufri winds with a lot of twists and turns through the deodar forests and is very lonely and dangerous as it is just a single road, in fact all roads leading to Chail are single roads which are difficult to motor as the widths are very less and have a lot of turns. One must never drive here during night and should avoid during the day as well, no wonder that very little vehicles are found on these roads. There are many small villages on the way and eateries that serve local food and chai (Indian sweet tea).

Inside the Palace you can see antique interior ,

Heritage Bar , Restaurant, Chandelier,

Furniture ,Painting and many more

One day a TURI (Singing Bard) was passing by when he saw a wild fowl sitting on a tree, he with his catapult shot at it twice without any success. Suddenly the pheasant started talking to him and said, “You cannot kill me, instead you play your DHOL (Drum) because I want to dance”.
